You may remember me posting a while back about my yoga journey, and how I was aiming to become a yoga teacher. Well, a lot has happened since (and, in part, thanks to) that blog post, and I have got a place on the best teacher training course in Scotland, starting early 2015! Excited is not even the word.
I know I have a lot to prepare and improve on before it starts, and I have started transitioning into Mysore (self-led) style Ashtanga yoga which is amazing!
Regarding my current career, I have actually quit my PhD which was such a relief. I hadn’t realised how much of a burden it was for me, and I feel so much better for it. I know a lot of people who are enjoying/did enjoy their postgrad years, but for me it was just so stressful – I would start panicking about my 2nd year report immediately after passing my 1st year one, and I was having so much difficulty focusing. Working towards a PhD isn’t something that should be undertaken lightly, and it is a massive commitment, which I don’t think I was ready for.
I am still working in science, and feel ok about that. Still not sure what will happen when my current contract comes to an end (Nov 2015) as it coincides with the end of my yoga teacher training course. I am so happy working with my current line manager, and I don’t know if I would enjoy science that much or even at all if it was in a different environment. But this isn’t something I need to make my mind up about now – I still have about 16 months!
So yes it is all change here, but I am so unbelievably psyched to have got onto YTT *happy dance*! It will be so challenging, but oh so worth it!
